Int'l cruise ship docks at Paradip Port
An international luxury cruise liner carrying 120 passengers anchored at the Paradip Port here on the Republic Day on Saturday, adding to the development of Odisha Tourism.
Sources said the luxury cruise liner ‘MV Silver Discover’ docked at the Paradip Port after a gap of around 10 years. The ship with visitors from countries like the US, the UK, Australia and South Africa arrived at the Port at around 8 am on the day. After the arrival, the port authorities gave a rousing welcome to the visitors in traditional way. PPT Chairman Rinkesh Roy said the cruise liner would boost and inspire tourism in the State.
The cruise liner would take the visitors to the ancient Buddhist heritage sites at Ratnagiri, Udayagiri and Lalitagiri in Jajpur district, sources added.
The Tourism Department has made all arrangements for comfortable stay and movement of the international guests and to provide comprehensive information to them on the historical, cultural and religious heritage of the Buddhist sites, said an official.
