2-day Chakradhar Kathak fest begins
The two-day Chakradhar Kathak fest began with lots of splendid performances. The event began on Sunday at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium leaving the audience totally mesmerized.
The event is an amalgamation of delightful performances by three Kathak maestros. The event features, Kathak exponents from Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore. The Kathak maestros like V Anuradha Singh, K Murli Mohan and K Nandini Mehta.
Kathak exponent Nandini K Mehta and K Murali Mohan started off their performance Shiva Bhajan in Raag Bhatiyar in Teentaal.
Shiva Bhajan described the lord Shiva in his abode Mount Kailash.
Next performance was Teen Taal. This is a technical piece in Kathak which has a time cycle of 16 beats. It is a pure dance item, where in the dancers execute various rhythmic patterns which are woven with the prime syllables of the percussion like Tabla and Pakhawaj used in Kathak. In this upaj, Uthan, Tukdas, Parans, Tihai, Kavit all chakradhar Farmaishi and Kamali were performed.
It was followed by a traditional thumri in raag Bihag. Next performance was Sri Rama Bhajan.
They wrapped up with a Meera Bhajan describing the playfulness of Krishna and the abandon with which she enjoys the hori with the lord. It was performed in Raga Mishra Jog in Keherva Taal.
Prior to this V Anuradha Singh mesmerized the audience. She started off with Shiv Vandana. Then she performed Ghungroo Vadan, followed with Kathak of Raigarh Gharana.
V Anuradha Singh managed to capture the attention of the audience and maintain it till the last.
Then she performed Thumri. She spellbound the audience when she performed a jugalbandi of violin and ghungroo.
Her next performance was Namidanam. She then performed kathak on ghazal and then wrapped up the performance with Sufi Rang.
